ABOUT THIS WEBCAST
The chlor-alkali market continues to evolve as the market moves up from the global downturn.  This includes the market in North America, which is also seeing changing conditions.  This webcast from Harriman Chemsult will address the outlook for the important US and wider North American market.

The US is no longer a high cost producer after changes in energy costs, but continues to struggle as it emerges from recession.  Operating rates are low and end use markets have become increasingly fragmented, being subject to differing regional influences.  Changes in conditions have allowed producers to recapture some lost domestic business, but overall the caustic soda market in North America remains weak, with only limited recovery seen from the depressed market of recent times.

This new webcast by Harriman Chemsult will look at the changes seen in the North American market during and since the recession, and consider what further recovery may occur in 2010 and beyond.  This includes the future of supply and demand, whether the price rollercoaster will continue, and the wider outlook for the global market.

In-depth statistics revealing issues facing the industry will be disclosed, including:

  • US chlor-alkali capacity and production, in context of the size of the global industry, for the past two decades
  • North American year-over-year capacity change 1992-2008, by country
  • US capacity by company from 1990 to 2015
  • Recent US caustic soda import & export levels
  • Conditions in 2009 including 2009 market demand and apparent production declines
  • Prices, costs and margins, with estimated regional ECU costs & ranking, 2001-2009, with US estimated ECU costs detail
  • Outlooks for US caustic soda balance and potential capacity change scenarios.
