PVC in China 2009-2012

Harriman Chemsult Ltd is pleased to announce the newest, most in-depth and reliable data on Chinese PVC supply, demand and market movements in its new report: PVC in China 2009-2012.

China is perhaps the most important market in the global vinyls sector, being by far the biggest producer, importer and consumer of PVC. It has seen dramatic changes in the structure of its PVC market over recent times. After declining for many years, PVC imports have recently rebounded massively while exports have fallen equally sharply. As domestic demand has also retreated severely amid the global downturn, production levels within China have thus reversed dramatically. In addition, costs and margins have radically changed, mainly to the detriment of acetylene-route PVC manufacturers. Thus the landscape of the PVC market in China in mid 2009 is fundamentally different from that of 2007 or early 2008.

But what is the outlook for the coming years, especially with current economic instability? What is the outlook for PVC imports into China?  With a drop in supply, what will happen to the millions of tonnes of new capacity and new projects currently planned?  Will the outcome be plant closures/project cancellations...or will a flood of Chinese material enter world markets? What does the changed market balance mean for Chinese prices? Has the outlook for acetylene-route PVC changed?

Harriman Chemsult’s report provides the data you need to respond effectively to the latest developments in China. Because it is particularly difficult to assess accurately what is happening in the region--especially with current economic conditions--Harriman Chemsult has made special effort to validate the statistics coming out of China; this report is the result of a major collaboration between the trusted and internationally established Harriman Chemsult of London and our partner CBI China of Shanghai.  You are therefore assured of the most reliable data available.

This major study offers comprehensive, detailed insights from both international and Chinese viewpoints. Comprehensive data and analysis in the report include:

• A complete overview of the Chinese PVC market to 2012
• PVC technology descriptions
• Profiles of PVC producers
• PVC capacity, production and supply
• PVC demand
• International PVC trade including detailed Chinese data
• PVC production costs, prices and margins
• Asian and Chinese PVC price forecasts to 2012
• Major issues facing the Chinese PVC market

Published in two volumes totalling around 200 pages, the report includes over 140 tables, figures and maps and is supplied in both print and CD format. The bound print copy represents an ideal desk reference while the CD includes an electronic copy of the report plus an Excel file of data.
